Today, I am celebrating me. Oh, please, please, please keep reading. I'm not egomaniacal. I'm not supremely arrogant. I'm just a girl who is FINALLY good with just being me. I am FINALLY comfortable in my own skin.
Have you ever felt like a human being trapped in a chameleon's body? I spent years feeling like I didn't really know who I was or maybe who I wanted to be. There's not time to deconstruct the whole saga so let me paint you a picture. In high school I endured several extreme makeovers.
I spent middle school working my way through the store 5.7.9. At some point that deteriorated because it's 5.7.9 not 13.15.17. So, I went through a grunge phase. That was easy because I was not affluent and the idea is to try to look poor, but it was too dark for me. Then I tried the Abercrombie phase-not so easy on a tight budget. It didn't last long. Oh, and I had a muffin top when I was thirteen. Abercrombie is not made for girls with muffin tops. So then I tried pulling off an athletic look. I'm too round for that. It was fashion, and it was fiction. Athletic I am not. I eventually settled on preppy. It was the best fit-part lazy, part chic.
Each phase represented a new effort to feel good about me. I tried relentlessly to figure out who I was. I knew God had made me me. I knew deep in my soul that I was uniquely Whitney, I just didn't know what that would look like. Please know, this wasn't just about fashion. It wasn't just about materialism. It was about a young girl wanting to feel good about who and how God had made her.
Eventually a young woman gave up. I just got tired. I stopped wanting to figure it out. I decided to just enjoy being me-today. Thinking about my public persona was too exhausting, and really too selfish. I stopped trying to find myself, and devoted myself to finding God.
Then unremarkably it happened. I just became myself. And now at 31, I kind of like just enjoying God. Unexplainably, as a result I enjoy me. I am the most transparent person you will likely ever meet. I am ridiculously flawed. I make the same stupid mistakes. My prayers aren't, but could easily be scripted. I'm on my face about the same sins over. and over. and over. I'm not proud of it, but I am me. And I am growing. I'm not so worried about how God wants me to appear as much as who God wants me to be. It's incredibly freeing.
So today I'm celebrating the journey of finding myself. It's a journey that I completed when I gave up. I gave up on myself. I'm a quitter, and I like it.
Now, I am a girl who still loves fashion, and I have found my "me" store. If you don't have a Francesca's Collections near you, find one. If you can't find one go online and enjoy a little fashion heaven on a mama's budget. I can't pull off everything on the site. But ya'll part of enjoying me is knowing I have one dimple in the right place, and a host of others in the wrong places. I have unruly eyebrows. I have enormous hips and tiny, um, let's just say that A-line is my friend. But I have a nice neck and really great earlobes. Play to your strengths girls. I love me some big earrings, a cute necklace and a nice tunic.
So leave me a comment about what you like about you. I'll pick a winner and send you a $30 gift card from my favorite little fashion joint.

Whitney! you're so incredibly cute!! i'll be back even without the giveaway because you're so much fun!!
what i like best about me?? hmmmm. i like my hair (i just posted about it on my blog last week. i didn't realize how much i really, really liked my hair until my cancer diagnosis three weeks ago. i mean i knew i liked it just not quite this much!)
have a fun carnival!! lisa
I can so relate to your post today. I think most of us go through this same struggle. One of my most favorite things about being in my 30's is that I finally like me. Don't get me wrong I still look in the mirror and sigh, but for the most part I am very comfortable in my skin.
The thing I like most about myself is my eyes and I think I have pretty good hair.
Have a great week!
What I like about me?? Some of those things you mentioned herein:
-- I am not about finding me; I am about seeking God and nurturing my relationship with Him
-- I have a passion for God's' Word. It is an endless, life-giving treasure of truth.
-- I realize my many flaws keep me humble before Him and dependent on Him and His strength is glorified in my weakness.
-- I am about transparency and dedicated to right relationships -- with God first and then family/friends. I treasure the relationships God has given me and want to honor Him with those.
-- "Authenticity pursuing holiness"
-- I don't have a favorite part of my body, and I am fine with that. Just want my heart to be good with God.
-- I love fashion!!! I heart clothes!! :)
Going to check out the Francesca's website now! I hope there is a Pennsylvania location!! :)
Sharon
Whitney what a great post today! I have to say that now in my 30s I finally know who I am because I finally know who God really is. Once I see ourselves through His eyes I know that I am made to be me, special and unique. One thing I would say I like about me is that I seem to look younger than I really am. I used to hate this when I was a teenager and in my twenties, but now that I am in my mid 30s it is pretty great! :)
God Bless you today and all the ladies at P31. You guys are THE BEST!
Brandee
I just turned 60 (!) but I like that I am still young at heart.....I love being a grandma!

Oh boy have I struggled with "finding myself"! I turned 32 recently and the day of my birthday I realized I felt so good about who I am and my life - finally!! I'm much more comfortable in my skin than I have ever been and more confident with who I am. It's a great feeling! My eyes are my favorite feature.
I loved your post Whitney. At 46 I am still trying to find me. :) What I like about me, I have a youthful spirit and loyal to the max. I am a great friend and devoted mom and wife. Most of the time, I am quite happy with me, so that is something that I like too!
What I like best about me is my smile. I was blessed to avoid braces growing up.
I am still trying to find out who I am. I think I have it figured out and what my purpose is in life and it all falls apart.
I am still trying to find out who I am. I think I have it figured out and what my purpose is in life and it all falls apart.
Oh how I think we all struggle somedays to look beyond our many flaws and find the beauty! I loved what you said about everything! I would have to say I love my freckles! I've always felt different because my face was splattered with dark freckles. Not always a good different, but now, it is good! I guess that comes with age! :) Thanks!
I like the fact that I am God's daughter and He loves me no matter what!!!
You are so cute! What I like best about me is I finally let myself be me and stopped coloring my hair and let myself be the natural gray I've earned! May God bless you!
Whitney - Just discovered your site, & so love it! I'll be back over & over & over.... I like my smile, and my sense of humor - if nothing else, I am reliable "comic relief" for my coworkers! God bless you & your message.
What I like about me?
Really a tough one, especially right now at this time in my life. I'm 38 and still feel like I am not where I want to be in life.
I can completely relate to your post. I did those same things when I was younger.
But I guess if I had to say something I guess it would be my sense of humor. I have a fun and goofy side that comes out every now and then.
The thing I `finally` like about me is my hair. I used to wish for really, really long hair (that never came to be) then I actually got my hair cut really, really short. Next I got perms and coloring all to have beautiful hair. My hair is now all natural, which means more salt than pepper (lots of wisdom through the years) and depending on the weather is how my naturally curly hair goes. So, yes, I finally like my hair.
moma3homeschool{at}gmail{dot}com
I like that I have a heart for God. And, although we have been going through some tough, tough times lately - my husband and I are continually finding something to laugh about - so I guess I could say, I like my dorky sense of humor.

Oh I am sooo thankful to have found your blog today! I have been through similar situations in my life and still find it a challenge to love my "mom to one baby", slightly overweight body. But no matter how thick or thin my body is, I feel like God has blessed me with beautiful green eyes and extra long eye lashes!...no wonder I'm obsessed with eyeshadow and mascara :)
llanghans@yahoo.com
Whitney, I just love your "voice". What a great writing style you have. I like my long hair - when I'm having a good hair day - but like Jeannie, I would like to be brave enough to let it go gray! Since turning 50 three years ago, my mantra has been "try harder or give in." I thinking of switching over to the "give in" philosophy, ha ha ha!
Peace,
Michelle
Hi Whitney! I absolutely loved your blog today!! Thank you. I would have to say that what I like about me physically speaking is my blue eyes. Inside I am finally starting to like everything about me. This I owe all to God who I have finally allowed completely into my life. I am becoming the person He wants me to be and I am starting to finally love everything about me! God bless!
I am not bound by people's opinions of me. I really could care less about ppl's thoughts about me which, at times, can be a strength and a weakness; regardless, it's what I like about me :)
OK Whit I have learned to embrace that my arms and legs are skinny and I hide the middle. ;) So I like my arms and legs about me on a surface level. On a deeper level I love that I am passionate about things, it may be a bunch of different thing but when I find something I LOVE I become passionate about it.
Whitney, I can definitely relate to your post today. I'm still struggling with finding the real me and I'm 36 :) I'm getting there, but I had a baby last year and am finding it a struggle to find my sense of self. I find that if I don't constantly compare myself to others and remember to thank God for making me unique that this helps.
Thank you for your refreshing honesty and openess!!
mdselvia@yahoo.com
What I love about me are my blue-green eyes because they change color to match what I'm wearing and they draw attention away from my big nose. :) I also love my curly brown hair because it's unique and sets me apart, which is a daily reminder I belong to God. I didn't always love my hair, but God changes hearts and, I believe, He changes eyes.
Thanks for doing this carnival! God's blessings!
I love my hair. I can do anything with it, wear almost any style. It is healthy, thick and luxurious.
It always makes me a little sad to see how much time WE (notice I said WE, not just you!), spend beating ourselves up...over body image. I'm just as guilty! You are not alone...and the irony is, we are all God's children and therefor BEAUTFIUL! You are a beautiful child of God! Celebrate you!
I thought we are about the same age! I am just a tad older than you (will be 35 this year). I honestly thought I was reading my autobiography today - just different stores. But we have the same body shape.
I am short and hippy and have to get my eyebrows waxed about every two weeks!
I like my feet - especially after a pedicure.
Oh, Whitney, I SO needed to read this today. I'm tall, so I've never really had to worry about my weight, but over the last 6 months I've started a new phase of my hormonal life--pre-menopause. Oh. My. Word. It is playing havoc on my middle section and it's depressing! So I needed to read your words today. Thank you!
I am a little too old to shop Francesca's, but I have two teen daughters who love the store. I love it too, for all the other cute things they sell there. So thanks for the opportunity to win!
What I like about me?
I have a laid back, easy going personality, I get along well with others. It is easy for me to make a friend no matter if they are 1 or 100. I like that I try to be a friend that I would like to have. It is hard to talk about myself without feeling like i'm tooting my own horn! But those are just a few of the things I like about me! :)
Thanks for the awsome giveaway! :)
Janet Jackson
i_luv_lordcyan@yahoo.com
its hard for me to accept compliments much less like something about my self..LOL.. but if I had to pick it would be my huge crazy loving heart...I find myself giving chance after chance to those that hurt me the most... I would give away anything I have to someone that needed it..or even wanted it..after all its not mine but GOD'S... INCLUDING MY HEART...God bless u!!
Thanks for this post..it meets me where I need to be met. One thing that God has been showing me about myself as I've been seeking Him on this issue, is that He has made me strong. It is a delicate strength that has been refined by His leading and my choosing to follow in the most difficult times of my life; His strength made perfect in my weakness.
It is a beautiful thing!

I love the color of my eyes. They are a unique golden brown -- the same as my grandmother's. :-)
Love the spirit of the carnival blog giveaway! Just returned from a fun, family weekend at Mardi Gras in Mobile. And to our surprise, we came home to snow -- the second snow in Birmingham in a week!!
I have not heard of this fun store but I am going to be in Atlanta next weekend for a women's conference...I will need to check it out!
I love to give things and help others wherever I can it opens the door to share Jesus...God bless you!
What I like about me is that I'm giving up on me too right now! Crucifying the flesh, but only by God's grace and mercy!
I've been comforable in my own skin for a long time. I've always been "This is who I am" If you don't like it tough, even through high school. I was God's kid and that's all I needed to know...
I like my hair!
I will turn 54 on Sunday and I am still looking for the real me. I am going to follow your advice today and quit looking for me and just continue looking for and to God. I do like my eyes!
Hi, I like my sense of humor. I am able to find humor in many situations including myself!
Nancy in Baltimore
nanrykl@aol.com
Loved the post today! What do I like about me? I like that at 52, I don't feel 52, that I am happy just being me, even the "fluffy" parts of me.
I've covered the grays with red hair! My best friend told me sassy is good!
Your post today was so good for me to read- I'm two months post-partum with an adorable son to show from it, but also with a crazy out of shape body! So let's just say I've been struggling in the "what I like about me" department. But, I'm trying to give that to God! Meanwhile, I do like my eyes and the fact that I am a redhead.
What I like about me...my eyes.
rkdecker@venturecomm.net
I like that I am a good listener. I also have a pretty smile. Would prefer not to talk about myself though :)
Thanks for the opportunity to win this!

Whitney,
This is my 1st time to you blog and I felt like I was reading a journal about my life. Wow! It took me until I was 40 and some devastating mistakes for me to truly seek God for his wisdom and who He wanted me to be. I had always loved Him but didn't have that relationship with Him. Now I am finally in my mid forties learning who Lynn is. Not my interpretation of who I think everyone wants Lynn to be but just who I am. I was always so concerned with what I thought everyone wanted I never took time to ask what I wanted or what God wanted out of me. Now that I do that life just flows and I am totally free.
Thanks,
Lynn
What I like about myself? I am usually able to recognize and enjoy those special little "moments" that often pass by unoticed...
I love my age and the wisdom & strength that comes with it. :) I am in my early 50's. (But I do miss my 40's sometimes!)
What a great message! I just turned 50 and am finally comfortable with who I am...most days. My 17 year old daughter is still struggling, but I'm trying to be a good example and maybe she'll learn that lesson earlier in life than I did! What I like most about me is that I'm practical and organized, but able to adapt to whatever comes my way. Thanks for your ministry!
i think at different phases/ages of my life I have like different things about myself. I used to like my neck, I am sure it was here just a moment ago...hehe I think my favorite physical part I like is my hair. But I like my crazy sense of humor and I think, for the most part, my family does too.
I like my eyes (minus the sleep deprived circles!)
Thanks for the contest!
Becky

Well I can tell you plenty of what I don't like, but I guess the thing I like most about me is my loyalty and compassion to others. Love your blog!
rapelfre@aol.com
I really like my height, it really helps me with running because I have such long legs.
I like the fact that Jesus Loves me in spite of myself!
Whitney, I just love your sincerity! I am a little jeolous that you are at this great spot in your life. I have to be honest with you, I am 40 and just yesterday I was thinking, I can't be into 1/2 my life and still not know what God has planned for me or not be happy with myself...this story is getting old I keep telling myself. However, God has been whispering in my ear to just enjoy where I am today. To focus on my strengths and leave my flaws to Him, he will take care of it, I really can't do it on my own. So Whitney, all this to say that I join you in your celebration today and I will celebrate you and me today...because of who our Daddy is:-) Love, Silvia
I like that God made me compassionate....so much so that He has blessed me with starting a non profit organization....only He would bring me that route!
Shannon
What a fun, but powerful post! Growing up the one thing I really loved about me was my smile. But a chronic illness and the drugs that go with it have physically changed the smile I once loved. I've grieved for that smile! God has used it to turn my gaze inward. There is lots on the inside that is worth smiling about. Praise Him!
Thanks, Whitney!
Deb (deb@debbrown.org)
Oh, this is hard. I like that I'm a good listener. I know when to keep my mouth quiet and just sit there with friends as they pour out their heart. I also like that I'm a mommy. We weren't sure that would ever happen.
YOU are so cute! I love your honesty! What a generous giveaway! Thank you!
I like my hair, I guess,...well..yes...I like my hair!
I like my heart...most of the time...I like that God convicts and works through my heart...and that happens constantly!
What I like about me? I like my imagination - the way I see the world.
I am learning to like me. I've spent my entire life not liking myself. I spent 10 years in recovery from childhood sex abuse. That has helped me like myself more. I had weight loss surgery in December. I'm learning a new "dance of joy" in learning to be healthy and appreciating the life God has given me. Thanks~
I love my laugh..it is very recognizable and always something people remember about me. I also love my hair. It is the same beautiful red as my grandmother and my daughter.....although mine does come from a bottle these days!
crose6799@gmail.com
I just happened upon your blog & I'm loving it! I'll definitely be back.
I like that I'm only 5 feet tall. While I wouldn't say I'm "petite" after 2 children, if you know what I mean, I still feel "cute". And I like my eyes.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this blog!
I like that God gave me the gifts of creativity and organization.
Thanks for your generosity!
(jdgerigg@bright.net)
My favorite things about myself - my red hair and green eyes...now both of those things are fake (hair color and contacts are a girl's best friends), but I love them even more because I chose them
kate AT sweetpotatoes DOT com
The one thing I have learned to like about myself is my ability to laugh and smile. I lost 2 children and God gave me a double-portion of twin daughters. When I see them, I am so thankful God healed my broken heart. Although my twin daughters (16 years old) can never replace the two children in heaven, they bring me such joy that I never imagined having! God is so good!
I don't really spend any time thinking alot of what I like about me, but I would have to say that I am really good at encouraging others! It is my favorite thing to do! If someone's day can be brighter, better, nicer by ours paths crossing then it is a good day! I love to cause people to feel incredibly special!
I like my teeth! (Thanks for the braces in middle school, Mom!) They are straight and white and I'm constantly smiling so that's a very good thing. I also really like my eyes.
Ali.Shinnick@yahoo.com
What do I like about myself? I like that I am frugal and find fun and creative ways to save money so that I can stay home with my children!
My love for others is my best feature.
Whitney~I love your spunk and positive attitude. It is contagious!!! I have learned to Love my self because God first Loved me! He made me just the way I am suppose to be and it's my job on this earth to feed my soul with His word and feed my body with nutritious and healthy foods. I have been on a roller coaster up and down with both, but each day brings new hope and I know I am work in progress! Thank You for your Wisdom!!
Hmmm...what I like about me!?! That's a tough one because vanity is a sin, LOL. I love that I have super long hair and that I'm in pretty good shape! I think my best feature is making others laugh, which I seem to do non-stop, even when I'm not trying to!!! Laughter is the best medicine!
What I like about me is my spunk!!! I teach a great group of Christian teenagers everyday and I love that I can spend time with them outside of school and fit right in. Sometimes I forget that I'm ten years older!!!!!
I love this post :) I am currently on the journey of abandoning others perceptions of me (and my own) and just being content with who I am in God and how He sees me. It's a hard process. I am encouraged I am not the only woman who has ever experienced that. While I believe I am closer to being comfortable being me, I am still getting there.
I just recently came to appreciate my extremely curly hair that is usually straightened or put in hot rollers to maintain. I also realized one day that I have very pretty blue eyes.
I like that I am always willing to try :-)

I think what I like most about myself right now is that I don't care much about my external appearance... not that I'm a slob, but I've just finally learned how unimportant it is. Letting go of that, and many other things, frees my energy to work on what God values--my heart. And since we all know how much work that can be, it's good timing! :)
What I like about me..........hum. Well for one thing, I like that I am not afraid to try new things. I used to be so insecure in that area of trying something new. But now that I am in my 40's and I have a loving husband and God who has encouraged me I'm not as afraid anymore. It is so freeing and I am enjoying myself.
Thank you to all these lovely women also who have this fun giveaway.
Have a blessed day.
Denise Graham
I love that I am a good wife and mother. I love that I am willing to try new things.
I am so thankful for these giveaways because they led me to new sites I havent visited. When I was reading your post today, I thought you might be talking about me...SO refreshing to know others battle the same struggles. :) Thank you for your honesty! I like my smile, its one of my best features I've been told.
God Bless you!

I would love a little fashion in my life again and to not feel so frumpy as a mom of 6.
Blessings!

My eyes are my favorite feature. I appreciate the color that I have inherited from a long line of strong, wonderful women.
The thing about me I like most about myself...I love nothing more than my freshly groomed eyebrows.
Love your blog!!

I love my tall elegance.
Whitney, you are beautiful! I too have struggled with self esteem my whole life, being teased by other kids for my freckles, red hair and for being so shy that nearly anything would make me cry and that would only cause the teasing to increase. I am learning to love myself and to know that all that matters is my heart for HIM and I know that HE knows my heart and that is what matters most, is living for Him, in all that I do. Being a mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me, adopting our 8 blessings has brought me so much closer to understanding what is really important in life and has helped me with my walk with Him.
Blessings, Kim mom to 8 wonderful blessings including our angel in heaven, who we lost to cancer 6 years ago to cancer. It has been rough, but we could not get through it without our Faith in Him.
I love being tall and my crazy curly hair! I hated those two features when I was growing up, but now I have finally grown to appreciate and love those features most!
It took 20 years of addiction recovery and Beth Moore's study "Breaking Free" for me to finally like me and enjoy me as I am. Considering that meant I was 57 years old; I'd say I was rather slow to accept that God knew what he was doing when he created me as I am.
I love that I am finally learning to love myself like GOD loves me. I just recently realized that I've been telling people for years that GOD created you and He doesn't make mistakes, but I wasn't applying it to ME! I'm a 54 year old overweight Grandma and Mama and I am beautiful... ALL of me! God has a passion for me to present the me he made as a beautiful piece of art! He is the Artist, who am I to buck Him with my whining about the way my right eye droops a little after the Bell's Palsey 3 years ago or the extra cushions I have acquired over the years? Wow.. that's for the opportunity to put this in writing. It was something I needed to do! =)
I honestly love that I am a work in progress. I'm not fully who God wants me to be yet, will any of us ever be? But I am working on it, and through Him, I will eventually learn to let go of Me and find me. (notice the capitals, it's intentional)
Thank you for your honesty and transparency. I love transparency!
I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather be me and deal with my own issues and faults, than try to step into any one elses shoes. The grass always looks greener on the other side but it is such an illusion! God's given me the grace to deal with my OWN issues, do you know what I mean?
Hmmm...what do I like about myself? I am honest and transparent, a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kinda girl. I am usually objective and don't judge people hastily.
I am also quite easy-going. I haven't decided whether I that or not. It can be a good AND a bad thing!
:-)
What I like best about myself is that I am a loyal friend and I know that God loves me just as I am.
I am finding so many good blogs today and yours is one of them.

Whitney,
I like my right elbow. I dunno why, I just do. It's not fat, or thin, it doesn't have cellulite and no matter what I wear, it fits just right on my elbow. LOL.
I like my sense of humor. It's a gift that I get to share with others, God rocks like that. Love you! Is it time for She Speaks yet???
LOVE this store, I'd never heard of it before, but now i know there is one just down the street!
I love my hands! They're really cool :)
I'm always trying to find fun and funky rings for them too/
I really enjoyed reading your blog. Thanks for sharing and your deep honesty. And thanks for sharing the tip on Francesca's - fun stuff!
I like my cute toes...especially if I can get around to painting them. Just waiting for sandal season...
I like that I am just ME...no one else, just me, just the way that I am.

I LOVE give a ways. I found your blog and will be back!!!
What I like about me...let's see, I like my hair!
Hi, Whitney - Thanks for being transparant with the daily struggles we face each day. I am still finding me...
Thanks!
Marcia
Hey Whitney, my URL isn't right (for the webcam). It's http://tsuzanneller.com thx, sister!
What I like about me???? I like that God created me with a unique gifting and purpose to fulfill. He's given me a compassionate heart for others.
I like my gray hair - I do not think I am old, matter of fact I know I am not - I just think my hair looks good this color. Yeah, and it took a long time for me to be happy with me.
What a lovely person you are inside and out! I'll be back to your site again and again! And Francesca's Collection! LOVE it! There's one in the mall I work at, so if I win, it will be quite convenient! Blessings and thanks!

I think in a way I'm still in your middle school phase - although we're the same age! - but I like my hair. I don't know how to do much with it and it's never fancy, but that suits me and I like that. :-)
Throughout all the twists and turns of my life, I have become a much deeper and open vessel of imperfected Beauty..the ashes of suicide loss has dethorned me and opened my heart to others walking in that valley of loss. The stumbling blocks led me to stepping stones of Compassion and greater love to my Savior Jesus Christ. I give HIM all the GLORY of Who I am...in HIM. That lil girl that used to play under the lilacs is now honeysuckle .. all it took was REGRAFTING =)
What I like about me? Hmmm...well, I have always prided myself on my curves. I have a pretty good hourglass figure...it may be magnified a little bit - ha ha, but my waist is defined and my booty is curvaceous, so I'm good with that! (My husband seems to like it as well, which is always a plus) It makes up for the other imperfections :) My 1 year old daughter seemed to inherit the same traits. At a recent checkup her pediatrician called her chunky!! Say What?! I corrected him and told him that the correct term is VOLUPTUOUS! Of course, he agreed (smart man).
I really enjoyed this blog post! I'll definitely be back!
Stacy (Russ' wife) writes...This is a fun one, Whitney! I looked at the store website and wish there was a store nearby, definitely visiting the online site post-prego! What I like best about me? I'd say my long legs, it seems to be what my husband comments on, too, so that makes me feel good. :-) Thanks for sharing with all of us today! God bless! -Stacy B.
I LOVE your post (even more than I love Francessca's) It's so true! I have also spent my whole life trying to be somebody, something....usually whoever I thought someone else wanted me to be. But of course, to no avail. I am now a 29 year old wife and mother. And I am so determined to make sure my daughter knows her worth is based on Christ and not opinions. My mother tried so hard to teach me this, but being a single mom stretched her a little thin. I pray my daughter learns early what it took me my whole life to learn (and somedays it doesn't feel like I've learned much) that God specifically designed her with a purpose and with His spirit inside of her....true beauty personified!
P.S. I like my eyes and my fingernails (funny I know) =o)
I don't mind being short. I was always told "good things come in small packages."
In His Grace,
Tammy
I like my nose and my height:) Sounds crazy but hey, you asked!!!
Totally fun giveaway. And I totally am with you on a good eye brow wax! Have a good day!
http://adviceformommies.blogspot.com/
This is wonderfully generous AND fun THANK YOU!!! Be blessed!
BTW, I appreciate your honesty! I to am at the point of freedom.. no fear... <3
You're fun! I'm so happy about all this giveaway stuff - because it has lead me to some really neat blogs! Including yours!
And hmmm...what do I like best about me? I like that I'm eclectic. All of those phases you went through?? I'm a little bit of all of them! I wore cowboy boots under my wedding dress. I have on running shoes right now. And the other day I wore my bright pink Converses :) See?
Have a wonderful day!!!
Smiles,
Kate :)
I love your blog! I appreciate your honesty and approach to life. Keep it up! :) I think I need to print this post out and hang it up as a constant reminder...actually, I'm going to do that right NOW! Thank you!
I'm actually hardest on myself. I would never be this critical of anyone else. It took me a while to think of what I really like about myself (I know, not a good sign), but I will say I love my laugh and that I'm pretty good at making other people laugh... and I love being a mommy.
.... as mom of 12 blessings... the thing I like best about myself... hmmm... I have amazing eyes, I have been told...and my youth is renewed like the eagles... I am fun and never meet a stranger. It used to bother my children but now they appreciate that trait in me. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. I delight in being a homemaker and my Father loves me unconditionally.. and made me special :) tada!
I'm only 20 so I am still searching for myself...I haven't tried too many different styles. My style right now is 'non-style'. I don't really try, I just pick things I like or wear a t-shirt and jeans if I'm lazy. That's one advantage of being a college student ;)
My favorite thing about myself is my smile :) It's not perfect, but it's mine and I love to share it with people. One of my favorite things is when I smile at a complete stranger and they smile back at me...it's like all of the sudden there is this connection between us without knowing each other or using any words! It's so great and I'm thankful i can appreciate it.
What I like about me is that I am created in God's image! What's not to like about that?!?! I am blessed and highly favored of God and so thankful of all the blessings he has given me! :)
Hmmm. You really made me stop and think. I too have spent much time not really liking me. So this is pretty tricky. I guess I would have to say the thing that I like most about myself is that I am learning to be patient. Patience is not my think. I am a take charge kind of girl. And yet God is teaching me patience. And I like that.
Okay, if this is a double post I am very sorry! I am having trouble with my google account.
Anyway...
I love my blue eyes. When I am happy or excited they are bright blue and shiny!
What I like about me isn't so much my outward appearance but who God made me when He gave me my Extreme Makeover! I love my life, I am a Pastor's Wife and love sharing with and encouraging women every day. Thank you for your encouraging blog, i am glad that I found it through P31!
I am learning to like the me after 3 kids. And learning to clean the clothes out of my closet I won't ever wear again!

Hi Whitney,
Thank you for your service with Proverbs 31. I love the site and enjoyed reading your post today.
I'm about to turn 30 and have had a rough time dealing with it. I was talking to my sweet husband about it the other day and he stopped me mid sentence and said something that brought me back down to earth and out of my pitty party. It is the something about myself that I've discovered I really like.
It was something I hadn't seen before and after some thought I realized he was right. He said, "honey I know that you think turning 30 is a negative milestone and means you are getting older. But to be honest with you I like you better now at (almost 30) then the day I married you." I questioned back why? And he said, "Through our marriage and now two children I think you have finally let go. You've become way less uptight. You are more fun and care free."
I hadn't really thought of it that way but he was right. Time has made me a better person to be around. I like me more now at almost 30 then at 20. He's right, I am more fun, I'm more care free. I've learned to let go of the small things and I just enjoy being a Wife and Mom. I love that I'm laid back. I love that about me. Though it isn't a physical thing as most people have posted about their self it does reflect over to me physically because I finally wear things I've wanted to not because they are popular but because I like them. I'm letting go of how my uptight personality even controlled my appearance. To me fashion and my appearance are more about what makes me happy then meeting a status quo and that is something that's taken me years to see.
I enjoyed your comments on changing to find yourself. Until recently, I wore a mask everywhere I went. It drove my husband insane. He did not know who or what I was going to show up as. Now I am just me...fun, loving, outgoing and very happy in my skin. I am exactly the design of God and I am happy with that.
I sometimes struggle figuring out what it is that I do like about myself. But usually... I like my hospitality. I love to welcome guests into my home and make them feel welcome. I love to plan events for the women in my church, to help foster a sense of community and fellowship within our body of believers.
I like that I'm genuine not only to other, but to myself. This allows me to know my limits as well.
I like my smile. It is something that can cheer up anyone. :)
I love your blog!
I am in my mid twenties and I'm just about "there"- comfortable with me. But of course there are those days where nothing seems to look right or be right and you fall off the wagon...
I love my naturally curly hair and my long eyelashes. I used to hate my hair, but I love it now and it's definitely my trade mark!
Whitney,
I love fashion too... I was so happy when I was blessed with a baby girl. I couldn't wait to go shopping. I have a beautiful and wonderful daughter who doesn't like to shop. God is good, he sent me a granddaughter now who loves it so I just had to wait a little longer. Love your blogs...
What I like about myself is that I think I am funny (even if I am the only one) Thanks for the fun day.
Debbie
What I like best about me? I am clay. Yes, I am mold able in my Creator's hands. God has changed me over the years from a single, spoiled child to someone who genuinely cares about others. I am passionate about serving the Lord where He puts me and thankfully He keeps working on me daily. I've been able to travel to Africa and Brazil as a missionary, teach children, work in prisons...God always amazes me with what He can do. I am clay and I am mold-able in His glorious hands.
Not doing well with what you want us to share. I'm 40 and still have yet to be comfortable in my own skin. Eh, I just can't even go into it. Anyhow, thinking of all of me, the one thing I can come up with is my shoulders. hahaha Does that count? Isn't it sad when I can pick out something on even the smallest part of myself and absolutely hate it? My toes: too short; my hair: blah; my thighs, never seen a muscle in their lives; my "hmm-hmm"s flatter than I care to share...and so on and so forth. It's hard not to be critical when that's our truth! Ya know? :)

I too have never been happy with "me". At 53, I finally feel like I have a lot of confidence in my abilities and have decided to get healthier. I accepted the fact I couldn't do it on my own and in December had gastric bypass surgery. I have lost 34 lbs and feel better than I've felt in 30 years. My blood pressure is coming down and I'm enjoying shopping for clothes! I know this may not be the answer for everyone, but it was the only one for me. I know God is with me in my success.
Wow! First let me say I loved your blog for the giveaway. I've never looked back over my life in that way, but I did while I was reading it, and your 31 years sound oddly similar to my 37 years and 10 months.
Today, like you, I am celebrating me. I have learned how to be the me God created me to be and how to LOVE it, and that is priceless. There were times in my life, in very recent years, when I didn't think I'd live to see this day...literally, but God is wonderful!
I like my eyes. And now I can even appreciate my small... well you know and my disproportionate hips! lol

Whitney I would have never guessed that you were ever uncomfortable in your own skin. Bravo for sharing!
Having my 55 birthday last week and being a survivor of cancer, divorce and a brain injury I realize that the body is just the shell. I have to be most comfortable with what is on the inside! and I am!
But I enjoy my smile and sharing it with others.
Lisa hang in there the hair grows back!
Well, on the surface, I love my hair & my eyes. On the inside, I love that I'm a child of God, that He gave me a voice, and that He gave me the desire to truly connect with others. :-)
Loved you post today Whitney. Having just turned 40, I try to remind myself every day that God has created only 1 me and I'm happy with that!
My favorite part of me... sounds silly but I love my arms. Not because they are fit, but because I love the hugs that they give everyday to my friends and family. Especially the amazing husband and children I have been blessed with.
PS - I also love that God allowed me to nurse my two children until they were 1 and 2...and now that my daughter is weaned, I want some fashion for ME, again!!! Breastfeeding support is one of my passions, but I am so excited to be able to buy clothes, again, without worrying if I can get "easy access" in them. :-P
Hmm....I think I am still in the figuring out who I really am phase. Right now, I like that I am not giving up on life, but I am pushing through some tough times. Thanks for sharing!
Great post. I like the fact that most people think I'm younger than my age...love it actually! Though gaining a litle weight in my mid-section I still love a pair of good fitting jeans and a white t-shirt. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. Beth

I am just starting to embrace "Self Love" per Ms. Christine Arylo. And because "I am fearfully and wonderfully made," my prayer is that I will learn to not just like, but to truly love all of me.

I like that I'm willing to give things a try. I also like my hair.
Great story! I too have always struggled with being "just me" and that being enough. My favorite quality about myself, my hair.
The thing I like best about my physical self is my hair color--it's a great blonde that is from God!!
I also adore having people in my home and I am very relaxed even when it's our entire SS class in our home. I love that I just don't worry about the mess or things getting broken or that everything is not just perfect.
You are adorable!
I like being a woman. I am the only one in my family that can be the wife, the mom.....the sister, the girlfriend!
It's a privilege!
Oh - this is tough for me. Coming from a gal who is not very pleased with her body right now, I have to really focus on the good things (yes, there are some...I know). So, I like my nose. I'm blessed with a decent nose (size and shape). Whew! I know it could be lots worse. The other side of my family - not so blessed with a nice nose! :-)
What do I like about me? I guess I could say my smile.
Definitely like my hair best! Thanks for the giveaway.
Hi Whitney! I just love visiting your blog and reading your oh so sweet and fresh as a daisy words! Your are just too cute!
I hope grandma's can enter your contest. I like that I have inherited my mother's smile and I like my green eyes that smile whenever my mouth does!I'm also thankful that God has given me an adventurous and happy soul. I also like fashion so your prize sounds great!
You are such a "bright light" in this world Whitney. Keep shining and spreading your sunshine!

I am currently working for an aerospace company that in light of President Obama's recent announcement is facing some serious downsizing! What I like about me today is that I have realized I have a lot of great experience and abilities along with a God that has a plan. All of these things will take me to the next great adventure in my life!
Thanks for your ministry!

Hmmm...I like the fact that I am not "intellectually lazy" - I don't just blindly believe everything I hear but like to learn the truth for myself.
I completly agree with you! It's so hard to fit in these days!! People have created an image that, frankly, no one can live up to. I also enjoy the preppy style, it is bold in color and unique in a way. I just wish it could be easier to find cute clothes that are less revealing and more modest. I'm glad you have found yourself happy being you! I'll have to look at Francheca's some day! Thanx for the advice:)

Hi Whitney,
Since having met you last year at She Speaks, I can say truthfully that you are absolutely adorable, friendly, upbeat, encouraging, just a real "real" girl. But wait, this is about me...
I like my sense of humor. Quirky, a little sarcastic, but not mean. And that I try hard. Whatever it is, I try hard. Thanks for a chance to toot my own horn!
Debbie
What I like about me? That I am totally forgiven and redeemed!! It has been a jorney to truely believe this.
In His Graces~Pamela
Whitney, thank you for your blog post. I am in high-school and lately have been struggling with low self-esteem issues. God has been speaking to me through His Word and through other people an has been telling me that I am His...I am cherished and beautiful.
It's hard to talk about what I like best about myself:) but, I like that I can relate to other people and most people find me likeable. I like my smile (I am constantly smiling!!!!! ) and I like my thick hair:D God has also blessed with being great with kids.
Thank you for the encouragement!!!!

Today I will celebrate me in these areas:
I embrace my strong legs
I have great arms and shoulders
I have beautiful eyes
whew, that was hard!
Thanks for doing this!!
i like that i am a child of God. that even though He knows the deepest part of me He loves me just the same.
thank you for your ministry.
I guess I would say I like my eyes.

What I like about me....
Well, I am finally learning to like all of me. I have had a long journey to self-acceptance. I was sad and ashamed to learn that the power to love myself was already given to me by God but my lack of trust in Him had kept me from feeling good for a very long time.
I have a round face filled with laughter and smiles :) My beautiful bluish eyes change colors. They are mostly blue, but can also be green or grey. I love being curvy and only work on keeping the curves in place :)
I am thankful to have a lasting and ever growing relationship with my heavenly Father!
Also, thank you Whitney for sharing your story! I could really relate to what you were saying! I was 39 before I started being happy with myself. My friend called me a 'late bloomer' and told me there is nothing wrong with being a late bloomer unless you allow the bloom to die!
Great post! Tough question. This year I'll say my stamina. (Thank God!)
I spent most of my life hating myself. Ihated the way I looked, sounded, etc. Now that I am a mother of three and I know who I am in Christ I can say most of the time I walk in vicotry over all of that nonsense! It can sneakup on me everynow and again, but I know who I am!
I like my laugh. I can not fake laugh at all. Sometimes I am silent, and sometimes it is borderline obnoxious...Oh well that is also just who I am!
I like me. :) It has taken me a long long time to comprehend how important that is - and I am so grateful to God for giving me eyes to see!
I like my feet-and I have a pretty good fashion sense.
-Amy V.
The thing I like best about myself is my hair. I also love being a grandmother.
Wow, this is a hard one. I think I still have a ways to go before I get to the place of liking me. I can say I like my eyes, though. ;)
I just added you to my reader. Love your blog! And love Francescas Collections. So cute!
Just received a cheque for $500.
Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much you can get by taking paid surveys online...
So I show them a video of myself actually getting paid $500 for taking paid surveys to finally set the record straight.
